Absolutely correct. A few silly jokes are nothing when compared to all the horrendous shit christianity has unleashed.

More to the point, however, is the fact that abuse is known to stunt emotional development in children. What's more, it's now known that trauma roots people in the past, such that they can't get past the psychological damage of a particularly intense experience. This is why many war survivors struggle with PTSD.

This goes to your point about christianity being everywhere. For people like us who were damaged as children from religious abuse, a 'christian' culture is a perpetual trigger of our trauma. Good luck getting religionists to respect that though. Facts just aren't important in the face of a biblical world view.
