The last few weeks haven’t been kind to me, so I decided to start the New Year on a constructive note by having a go at a recent recipe posted by Lisa Osborne over at her page. It’s a hearty, savory dish. Any kitchen hobbyist could do a lot worse than to give it a go.

I didn’t follow her recipe to spec, but I did it more or less as she instructed. I used an Uncle Ben’s Wild Rice box for that portion of the recipe, mainly because I didn’t have a lot of wild rice choices in the mix when I stopped at the grocer’s. It apparently doesn’t come in plastic bags like other varieties seem to do. When it came to the mirepoix, I left the chopped veg larger than I imagine Lisa was instructing, mainly because I like my soups on the chunky side. Campbell’s kind…
