I used to be a real nerd back in the day, so much so that I could tell you things about Star Wars and Star Trek no reasonable person should ever know. In fact, I was such a Star Wars nerd that I used to play a game called ‘6 Degrees of Star Wars’ which was a riff on the more well-known Kevin Bacon variation, except that the point of my game, unlike the orignal, was to find a film in the history of cinema which couldn’t be traced back to Star Wars in six steps or less using more or less the same rules. I’ve never been beaten, sufficed to say. Of course, the game would still be ongoing if I still gave a shit, because there are a fuck ton of films out there, but I decided a long time ago that it wasn’t worth wasting my time on such frivolous things.

Fan fiction has been a thing for forever and a day, and I, like so many others in the geek realm, decided I’d have a go and produce my own stuff. After all, I knew so much useless shit about Star Wars and Star Trek, why not play around in those universes…? I was never able to finish my stories for a whole host of reasons, not the least of which is the fact that I suffer from mental illness and tend to lose interest in things I once cared about…
