So I just had a rather interesting nostalgia trip. I’ve been rummaging through my box of old writings so that I could give you all a glimpse of the naive, unsophisticated nob I used to be in high school, and on one of the papers I found a URL for a personal website I tried to design back in my Tripod days. This would have been the late 90s, pre-EVERYTHING digital you now take for granted, kids…! BE AFRAID!

Well…fuck me if the Internet Archive didn’t have a snapshot of it… I had completely forgotten I ever tried to design the thing…let alone that some of the links used to lead to websites I used to frequent…like CDNow, where I used to buy ACTUAL CDs… Remember CDNow…? Remember CDs…? Anyone…? I sure as hell didn’t until I plugged the URL into the Wayback Machine… O_o

At any rate, there was this little nugget of what I’ll assume some might consider poetry, probably written around 1999, typed on the other side of the paper:

Open the Door to your destiny, and the evil that you will embrace.

Feel your adrenaline rush and the thunder of your heart race.

Too young to know, too innocent to care.

Yet old enough to realize that you are there.
