I don't mind the idea of AI art so much as I mind the use of AI-generated art as a replacement for actual, tangible artistic endeavor. What I mean to say is that artists get very little respect as it is, and I can only see AI art as a means to deny smaller, struggling artists a means to generate income. Unless an artist has captured the public imagination with their work and their story, hardly anyone outside the realm of genuine art lovers will be willing to pay said artist to generate work. Hence, if a random person or corporation wants something 'pretty' to hang on the wall, they wont have to go to the trouble of paying honest creators for their work, they can just go to the AI generator.

Call me a Luddite if you will, but even though AI art looks nice and is a representation of our willingness to innovate, I can't appreciate AI art very much given the social and economic implications for small artists.
