I prefer to go it alone during the holidays. I've had my fill of family dysfunction and rampant consumerism for this lifetime. I prefer to keep it simple. On or around the Solstice, I have a plate of summer sausage, cheese and club crackers with a prefered alchoholic beverage, usually a good porter or stout. That's good enough for me.
