It's for this very reason that I will never take a republican seriously when they say they are pro-life. Reducing the investment in the welfare state to bolster the pointless military machine is beyond cruel. We could easily reduce the military budget by at least a third, divert those funds to food and housing, foreign aid and the state department for better diplomacy and still be able to do the same job militarily.

And when it comes to well-rounded citizens, we should never make the mistake of confusing as law-abiding anyone who is ready to start a civil war at the merest hint of more gun control measures.
