Liberty and Absurdity in the time of COVID
As the Bible says, To Everything There is a Season, and Now is the Time for Collective Consciousness and Action.
In an ideal world, we wouldn’t need stop signs…provided people could be trusted to act ethically of their own accord. And based on the behavior of many so-called Americans over the last year, it’s pretty clear that words like ‘ethical’ and ‘responsible’ are not universally applicable to our society. Putting aside for the moment the treasonous actions of the Booga-lunatics, Nothing-to-be-Proud-of-Boys, Oath Breakers and other assorted traitors to the Constitution on January 6th of this year (under an arrogant guise of ‘freedom and liberty’), the mere fact that we’re having an unjustifiably politicized discussion about vaccination and the wearing of masks to prevent the spread of a virulent contagion is evidence enough that humans are not inherently ethical.
It can hardly have escaped notice that many on the Right have made a name for themselves in the last year demonizing Chinese people for the spread of COVID19 (not that they’d know an actual Chinese person from, say, a Laotian or a Korean if presented with a photo line-up).
