Listen Up! It’s a Long Road Out of Ignorance…
…into the realm of Intellectual Competency…
If there’s one word I could use to describe the present state of the U.S., it’s HUBRIS; to whit, an unjustifiable sense of self-assuredness about our inherent virtue as a nation. Yes, we may have been the first modern, successful Representative Democracy in the world, setting the stage for many to follow, but it remains that our influence as a world leader has waned significantly as other societies have caught up; some quite well in that respect. The World Happiness Report for 2020 placed the U.S. 18th on the list of happiest countries — NOT EVEN IN THE TOP TEN!1
And who was in the Top 10, you may ask…? Say them with me — Finland, Denmark, Switzerland, Iceland, Norway, Netherlands, Sweden, New Zealand, Austria, Luxembourg. The U.K. even…it ranked ahead of us by five places and they’ve been suffering the fallout from that clusterfuck of a bad idea they called Brexit…to say nothing of the fact that there is a major rise of the Omicron COVID-19 variant happening in ‘Ol Blighty’ at the moment. That top list alone demonstrates that there are a lot of ‘johnny come lately’ Representative Democracies in the world who have out paced us, the RICHEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD…where poverty and lack of access to health care are MAJOR social issues, and who have more than outdone our…
