A Perspective on Cult Mentality and Modern Wealth Inequality, Part 2.

It’s particularly precarious for women in today’s world, this type of pop-culture manipulation, because so many of the things in today’s world which lead to wealth inequality, are perpetuated by charlatans who understand the economic potential of preying on the insecurities of women; playing off of their need for a validating sense of self by bombarding them with these Cult-of-the-Body-Beautiful social narratives. Furthermore, women are vulnerable to narratives of success perpetuated by charlatans across the board, but especially by those within the realm of Multi-Level Marketing who push a very attractive narrative of empowerment through the ‘ease’ of ‘home-based business’ entrepreneurship.1
Some have been so effective in the con-job that the need has arisen to form support groups/public forums for people to express their pain when they realize they’ve been duped by the false cult-like narratives of possible success pushed by MLM hucksters.2 A sad fact, to be sure, but this need is no surprise, however, as more than a few commentators and investigators over the years have drawn the connection between MLM schemes and religious cults.3 And I can speak from experience on at least some aspects of this given that I was drawn into Amway for a few years in my youth and saw first hand…
