One explanation I've heard through various sources is that animal husbandry and the agricultural revolution led to a deep sense of, or need for, commodification in the human understanding. Hence, there arose a need for strong 'guardians' to protect investments in the land being held for survival.
As societies grew and resources were stretched thinner, it became necessary to encroach on the land held by others for the sake of internal social stability, hence the advent of mass warfare. And since the mythology of the bronze age is heavily tilted toward war and commodity, it makes sense that misogyny would factor in so heavily, given how the physically stronger were generally selected to be the guardians, meaning men more often than not. I mean, what is the Trojan War story but one overly entitled man getting pissed off that another took is wifely 'posession'...?
That's just my opinion though.
