Probably so, but again, that is a matter of thoughts shaping a perspective of reality. If we could actually shape reality with our thoughts, the first alchemist would have turned lead into gold, for lack of a better example.

Until we get a more firm grasp on what is actually going on in the realm of the subatomic, we can't afford to give ourselves over to quaint fantasies about the nature of reality, no matter how rational and scientific they may seem. Roddenberry gave us a great gift, but he was still a man of his time, prone to exaggeration for the sake of a good story.
