Taking a Cue
Because inspiration is a bit elusive at the moment.
TRD has been chipping away at me something fierce of late. I haven’t had the will to do anything artistic in the visual sense, and my desire to write hasn’t been the best either.
So I’m taking a cue from Will Hull and trying my hand at this series of prompts put forth by Wei Xiang to see if I can’t occupy my time for a while with a distraction, take my mind of off the TRD that wont go away no matter what I do.
How far is the pursuit of happiness the most important human goal?
Happiness is an intellectual construct of the age in which people live, as defined by the choices available to them and the ease with which things can be attained, as I see it anyway.
When my grandfather was a kid, options were limited but he would have had a better chance of mastering a skill and building a life in a reasonable amount of time because his options were limited. He would have been better able to achieve contentment because he didn’t have a plethora of choices tearing at his attention constantly.
Now we live in an era where choices are abundant and the message is that you should explore to your heart’s content. Unfortunately, people get so trapped in the idea that if they don’t explore as much as they can, they’ll miss out…
