The GOP stopped being the 'Party of Lincoln' after LBJ forced through Civil Rights in the 60s. All those pissed off Dixicrats turned on him and basically invaded the GOP en masse, giving the 'Southern Strategy' to Republicans. So, all those racists who voted in LBJ in '64...same pricks who helped Nixon get elected in '68. And it's hardly a surprise that the whole demonizing of the 'black urban welfare queen' started with Saint Reagan a few years later.

People have short memories, history doesn't.
