The word 'spiritual' has too many ingrained supernatural connotations. I prefer to use a word like 'reverential' to describe the state of mind to which you refer here. When it comes to an understanding of human life, religious people are far from having a monopoly on that reverential sense of awe and wonder which lends a dose of magic to our existence. What's more, I think people who seek a deeper understanding of the factual truth of reality have a better life experience. After all, it's one thing to love a famous rock song, but it's another thing entirely to be able to play it yourself, understand what goes into its construction. The same is true of humans in general. Knowing that we are made of starstuff means we have a tangible connection to the universe, but it's all the more potent an idea knowing we're the only carbon based life which can really understand that connection.
