If you're interested, I would review the film Goya's Ghosts. It's a decent film and has a good illustration of the circular ignorance you mention, although a few of the acting performances are sub par, namely that of Randy Quaid. Whomever it was who decided he could play the King of Spain needs to be barred from making films for life.
