We do, yes, but I question whether we can have the same kind of broad impact without sinking to the same depths of intellectual depravity. Chick tracts survive because they are sensationalized distortions of reality.

Our team saying Jesus is a myth just like Thor, though factually sound, is more likely to turn people away, where as them perpetuating a lie like D&D promotes witchcraft and demon worship works because of how irrational is most human thinking.

Atheists just don't have that sense of culture which says 'playing in our sandbox is better than church' or what have you. And our media options are dry as well. That 'Atheist Experience' panel show out of Austin gets old after a while because it's always focused on the panelists debunking believer claims, which never seem to evolve. And apart from Shelley Segal's first album, I haven't really found any 'atheist' music which is as likely to get us fired up as Amy Grant does christians.

What's more, we have no central doctrines to guide our community. Thus we are more open and receptive to who gets to play in our sandbox. This leaves us open to having to deal with people in our own ranks believing in nonsense like tarot or ghosts or wicca or what have you, all at the same time we're calling bullshit on the bible thumper.

You see what I'm saying?
