Yeah, I've run into a profile or two over the years, kids I used to go to church with, all of them stating 'spiritual but not religious'.
Would be interesting to take a full survey and see how the entire lot turned out, given how Evangelical our congregation was.
It's absolutely pathetic how much evil can be perpetuated by church elders who are convinced of their own pious virtue. Reminds me of Hitler in a way.
As long as I'm tipsy on four Whiskey and Cokes, let's also bring up that whole 'judge not' sermon from the Bible. Believers use it as a method to shut down criticism, as in 'I accept Jesus so I'm beyond reproach.' However, I've read the damned book cover to cover and that passage in no way prohibits being judgemental. It's merely a strongly worded admonishion to make sure your own intellectual house is in order before you judge others. Hence, belief in Jesus is perfect moral thinking, therefore judge as much as you like...as the thinking goes...
