Some shit is just really annoying…

Ever heard of an Ad Hominem attack…? It’s when someone with whom you’re having a discussion/debate/argument decides they can’t take you disagreeing with them and attacks you or your character as a way to nullify the debate with them on top.

It’s one of the more common logical fallacies in play in this sewer of a slime pit we call the internet, even here on Medium, as high minded as some of us can be. And It doesn’t work. Anyone who uses this tactic is not intellectually superior. They are only demonstrating how unsophisticated they are in their thinking.

For instance, some twerp just decided to challenge me on the intellectually reasonable stance that if it’s possible for gods as humans have defined them to exist, then the burden of proof is on the person claiming it’s possible for them to exist, NOT on the person dismissing the possibility.

Of course, like any armchair (non)intellectual, she went on and on about the vastness of the cosmos and how we can’t possibly see everything and yada yada yada…nothing…not one shred of credible argument to demonstrate the possibility of gods existing, merely a typical ‘absence of evidence is not evidence of absence’ cop-out. And when I said no to her demand that I PROVE it’s NOT possible for god to exist, she dismissed me by trying to degrade me as inferior by accusing me of being childish and simplistic in my thinking…
